One way we can all help our local environment is by composting! It diverts food waste from harmful landfills, builds nutrient-rich soil, avoids methane emissions, supports sustainable farmers, and so much more! Plus: 60% of your waste stream is compostable!
If you don’t compost at home, celebrate Earth Day by bringing one day’s food waste to school. We’ll take your (reusable, washable) container at drop-off, dump it in our CompostNow bin, and hand the container back to you. Here’s what you can you bring:
- peelings
- eggshells
- paper towels
- fruits
- vegetables
- pizza boxes
- tea bags, coffee grounds
- nuts and shells
- bones, skin
- cereal, bread
When: April 21 and 22, 7:40-8:10 am
Where:
- Lower School (either entrance)
- Upper School (Kenan drop-off area)
- (The Middle School hopes to do this at a later time, after new routines get established for everyone coming on campus)
